Tomás Saraceno @ Palais de Tokyo
Tomás Saraceno, ON AIR. Three dimensional sculptures interwoven by different spider species. Breathtakingly beautiful. A multi-sensorial choreography of voices belonging to both human and non-human (spiders, cosmic dust and radio waves and entities floating in the air) universes. In this work, Tomás sets the stage and invites man and nature into a dance. One doesn’t just see the work, one hears this work, one “participates” in the work through changing air currents and spatial vibrations associated with his/her presence. Turn the audio on to hear the sonic waves. Images 1-6 : Webs of At-tent(s)ion, 2018. The glorious display of silky thread woven by different spider spices. Video 7: Sounding the Air, 2018. Sounds are produced by the 5 threads of spider silk that drift and resonate in the air. “The Air is restless, forever in motion.” Video 8 : Particular Matter(s) Jam Session, 2018. Video 9: Aerographies, 2018. Pens suspended from balloons trace lines and marks with a black ink made of carbon collected from the polluted air of Mumbai, India. Video 10: Algo -R(h)i(y)thms, 2018 An on-going jam session where participants are invited to pluck or slide their fingers up and down the strings. A powerful and absolutely mesmerising presentation. On at Palais de Tokyo,Paris till Jan 6, 2019. #tomássaraceno#palaisdetokyo #contemporaryart #spider
