Chinese dissident author Ma Jian’s talks at Hong Kong’s Tai Kwun arts centre cancelled

“Hong Kong is changing. Soon, it will become indistinguishable from the rest of China.”

Ma Jian, Dissident writer

Disappointing to read about developments in Hong Kong in recent weeks regarding Chinese dissident writer Ma Jian and British journalist Victor Mallet.

Ma Jian recently had two of his events relating to his book, China Dream, cancelled at the newly opened Tai Kwun, helmed by art world veteran Tobias Berger, who endeavoured to turn into “one of the most inspiring art spaces in Asia". How he is going to do this with increasing political interventions, the articles I have combed have given no hint.
